Book Review: THE NAKED GOSPEL by Andrew Farley

by J.W. Bergmann on June 5, 2010

Jesus plus nothing. 100% Natural. No additives.

Few authors take the time to expand and process the real questions that most folks’ have about the Bible’s teachings on eternal life (and how to “achieve” it). The Naked Gospel is a great read for those of us who live in the hope that Jesus can save people from their sins… but don’t feel that they “measure up” to God’s standards. The author shares his personal struggle with these perceived “rules” and his findings after searching the Bible for what really matters in God’s own heart.

I really enjoyed this book. So much so that I have placed it among my reference books for Bible study and sermon/lesson prep. No beating around the bush and dodging real, honest questions. Just simple facts discussed clearly, illustrated with stories that make issues relevant to the post-modern mindset.

Andrew Farley is the lead pastor of Ecclesia, a church in Lubbock, Texas that is known as “Church without Religion.”
